World record broken at World Taco Eating Championship
PRIOR LAKE, Minn. (KMSP) - From Nathan's hotdogs to now tacos, Joey Chestnut is the speed eating king.
At the World Taco Eating Championship, Joey Chestnut broke the world taco eating record by shoveling down 126 tacos in eight minutes.
Chestnut came into the contest as the top ranked man in the world. He won $2,000 for the first place finish.
Also in the competition was the top ranked woman in the world, Miki Sudo, who finished third.
Major League Eating, the world body that oversees all professional eating contests, including the Nathan's Famous Hotdog Eating Contest, sanctioned the event.
Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake hosted the championship as part of its Cinco de Mayo celebration.
