2 teens injured in boat accident involving 13-year-old driver
DASSEL, Minn. (KMSP) - A Minnesota boat owner was cited for allowing illegal operation of a watercraft after a 13-year-old child was operating the boat and pulling people on a tube Saturday on Big Swan Lake in Dassel, Minn. Two people were hospitalized with lacerations from the boat's propeller.
Shortly before 1 p.m., the Meeker County sheriff's office received a call of an injury accident involving a boat and a child on a tube. According to the sheriff's office, initial investigation showed that a 13-year-old was operating a boat and pulling people on a tube.
One of the victims, a 13-year-old boy from Bloomington, Minn., was airlifted with critical but stable injuries. The other victim, a 16-year-old boy from St. Louis Park, was transported to the hospital.
According to the sheriff's office, driver inexperience was cited as a major factor in the accident and the 13-year-old driver faces potential charges.
