Charges: St. Paul man rams vehicle into Governor's gate, wanted to be deported
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - A St. Paul man rammed his car into the front gate of the Governor’s residence on Monday.
The incident happened around 9:55 p.m. at the residence at 1006 Summit Avenue in St. Paul.
According to the criminal complaint, a trooper was at the residence and witnessed the suspect ram his into the gate, causing damage.
The trooper approached 42-year-old Wondu Seifu and checked him for weapons and that’s when he began to weep uncontrollably. Seifu then unbuckled his pants and stripped to his underwear and told troopers to continue to check him for weapons. Police didn't find any weapons.
Seifu told troopers he rammed the gate because he wanted to speak to the governor and claimed he was a victim of organized criminal activity. He told troopers he immigrated to the United States from Ethiopia in 2003 and bought a home in St. Paul that has been subject to ‘constant spiritual warfare attacks’. Seifu said his house is equivalent to the biblical reference to the devil, 666, because his address is 1036. He also stated he used to work at Delta Airlines and claims the state and federal governments were “skimming” money out of his checks and preventing him from making a profit. Seifu said he wanted to talk to the governor so he could be deported and gain asylum for religious purposes.
Seifu has been charged in Ramsey County District Court with one count of first-degree damage to property.
