Historic 'Giant Hat' leaves Uptown as Arby's restaurant closes
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The historic Arby's restaurant on West Lake Street and its iconic "Giant Hat" are leaving the Uptown Minneapolis neighborhood.
According to a restaurant spokesperson, the lease expires on Wednesday, and after being informed that the landlord has future plans to redevelop the site, they decided not to renew the lease.
Arby's still has 68 restaurants in the Minneapolis and metropolitan area.
A spokesperson also said that while the restaurant tries to keep the vintage "Giant Hat" signs, this one was not "in the proper condition to salvage."
