Jury finds Children's Theatre Company negligent in sex abuse case
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A verdict was reached Friday in the sexual abuse case against the Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis.
The jury found the Children’s Theatre was negligent in not providing appropriate care for child actors, who accused former director John Clark Donahue and former teacher Jason McLean of sexual abuse in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
McLean was ordered to pay $3.8 million.
"It validates our experience that we as children, we were not protected and it creates a space for healing,” victim Laura Stearns said.
Stearns will likely never see the judgement as Mclean is the person ordered to pay up. She said she will continue to fight for survivors.
