Man shot and killed in St. Paul's North End neighborhood, 1 in custody

A man is dead after he was shot by another motorist while in his car just after noon Friday in St. Paul's North End neighborhood. Police now have a suspect in custody. 

According to the St. Paul Police Department, police responded to multiple calls of a man shot in a parking lot on the 400 block of Maryland Avenue W.

Upon arrival, officers found a man lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

After an investigation, police found the man had been shot while sitting in his car. After he was hit, he got out of his car and collapsed on the ground.

First responders attempted to save him, but he died at the scene.

Police say the shooter sped away in a gray SUV. A 27-year-old man was arrested, police announced Saturday morning.

The homicide was the city's eighth of 2019.
