Northern Minnesota man killed when house he was moving falls on him
SHOTLEY TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KMSP) - A northern Minnesota man was killed Sunday when a house he was helping to move onto a foundation fell, trapping him underneath.
The accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in Shotley Township, about 60 miles north of Bemidji on the south shore of Upper Red Lake. A small home was being placed on a foundation when the house fell from the jacks and blocks being used to lift and support it, according to the Beltrami County sheriff’s office. One of the workers was trapped underneath.
Emergency crews were able to extricate the worker from under the building and initiated lifesaving efforts, but were unsuccessful. The worker, identified as 25-year-old Joshua O’Brien of Blackduck, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other workers were also injured.
