Shoreview City Council votes to raise age to buy tobacco to 21

Another Twin Cities metro city is raising the age to buy tobacco products from 18 to 21.

After taking public comment, the Shoreview City Council voted 5-0 to raise the age limit.

The new ordinance will take effect on July 1.

Edina, Plymouth, St. Louis Park, Bloomington and North Mankato are among the Minnesota cities that have already raised the age to buy tobacco to 21. The City of Minneapolis will be taking a public comment on the issue on May 14.
