Victim and four officers identified in Vadnais Heights shooting
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - A victim and the four officers involved in a shooting April 16 in Vadnais Heights have been identified.
Darren Jahnke was killed by Ramsey County Sheriff's Deputy Andre Rongitsch shortly after 9:30 p.m. April 16, with three other Sheriff's Deputies--Doug Haider, Lisa Daly and Sara Naglosky--also involved in the incident.
All four remain on standard administrative leave, according to a release.
A preliminary Bureau of Criminal Investigation report said Naglosky and Rongitsch were on a routine patrol near Highway 61 and I-694 when they attempted speak with a man inside an RV. Haider and Daly arrived as they were approaching and all four ultimately entered the vehicle.
While inside, there was a struggle and two Tasers were deployed in an attempt to subdue Jahnke, but he managed to disarm one of the officers. Rongitsch then fired his weapon, hitting Jahnke.
He later died as a result of his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, and all findings will be turned over to the Ramsey County Attorney for review once completed.
