Woman dead, man in custody after Shakopee homicide

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (KMSP) - Police in Shakopee, Minnesota, are investigating after a man allegedly killed a woman before attempting to kill himself Sunday afternoon. 

Shortly after 4 p.m., officers were called to a house on the 1200 block of Taylor Street on a report of a fight and were advised that a man had a knife and had killed someone. 

When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old woman dead. The medical examiner will release the cause and manner of her death.

Shakopee police confirmed that prior to officers' arrival on the scene, the suspect, a 35-year-old man, attempted suicide. He was provided medical aid at the scene and arrested. He is currently in critical, but stable condition. 

Police believe this was a domestic violence incident and there is no threat to the public.
