ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - A shooting Wednesday night in St. Paul left a 14-year-old girl dead, and three other teens hurt in the Prosperity Heights neighborhood.
The St. Paul Police Department said officers responded to the 1200 block of Hazelwood Street and located three female teenagers with gunshot wounds. Law enforcement provided life-saving measures until medics transported them to Regions Hospitals.
One of the teenagers was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police identified the victim as 14-year-old Monica Holley, of St. Paul. The other two have what police described as non-life-threatening injuries. St. Paul police have not released the other victim's ages.
A fourth victim, a 19-year-old woman, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and sought medical treatment at Regions Hospital hours after the incident, according to police.
FOX 9 crews at the scene said the investigation seemed centered in front of an apartment complex north of Maryland Avenue along Hazelwood Street. The scene is not far from a National Guard training facility and only a couple blocks from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension's offices in St. Paul.
Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting, and police began searching the area for potential witnesses. Authorities have not said whether any arrests have been made.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the victim and determine the cause of death.
