BLAINE, Minn. (KMSP) - Nineteen dogs and 11 cats were rescued from unsanitary and overcrowded conditions in a home in Blaine, Minnesota earlier this month, according to the Animal Humane Society.
The Blaine Police Department released the animals to the Animal Humane Society earlier this week. The Humane Society said some of the animals, particularly the older ones, are suffering from health issues consistent with living in unsanitary conditions and a lack of "adequate veterinary care," including skin and eye infections and severe matting. Three newborn puppies died shortly after arriving at the Humane Society.
The animals range in age from four days old to seniors. The rescued dogs include several Lhasa Apso-Shih Tzu mixes and one terrier mix. The cats include mostly domestic shorthair mixes and one Siamese.
Criminal charges are pending, according to AHS.
