21-year-old found dead in West St. Paul apartment, police investigating
WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead in an apartment Tuesday in West St. Paul, Minnesota.
According to police, at about 11 a.m., officers responded to the Oakdale Terrace Apartment complex at 1940 Oakdale Avenue on a report of a person who was shot. When they arrived, they found a man dead inside an apartment. Officials are calling the death suspicious.
Family has identified the deceased as 21-year-old Lawrence Renfro.
Police say one of Renfro's friends found him gunned down in his apartment Tuesday morning. His toddler was also found inside, but police are still trying to determine if the child was inside when the shooting occured.
Bryant Payne, Renfro's uncle, says the victim and his girlfriend were the only ones who lived at the residence.
Interim Chief Brian Sturgeon, of West St. Paul Police, is confident an arrest will be made.
"We have a 100 percent solvability rate on homicides in West St. Paul for the past 40 years, so we're pretty confident we'll get this individual," Sturgeon said.
