2nd deadly shooting in N. Minneapolis in 3 days

Another man is dead after a shooting in north Minneapolis early Saturday morning, the second deadly shooting in the area the last three days.

Officers responded to a shooting in the area of 27th Avenue N. and Knox Avenue N. around 2:30 a.m., where they found a man with a gunshot wound lying on 27th Avenue N. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Minneapolis police have spoken with a number of witnesses, but do not have anyone in custody.

The identity of the victim and the cause of death have not yet been released.

Police are offering a reward for any information that leads to an arrest and a conviction of a suspect in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-222-8477.

Gun violence in north Minneapolis

This was the second deadly shooting in north Minneapolis this week. Minneapolis police said they have seen an increase in the amount of gun violence in the area over the last several weeks.

A 20-year-old man was killed and seven others were injured in a shooting between rival gangs near the intersection of 16th Avenue and Newton Avenue shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night. READ MORE

Minneapolis police recovered 48 shell casings at the scene; the most some officers said they had ever seen at one time.

On Thursday night, a 10-year-old girl was shot when a stray bullet went through the wall of her home near the intersection of Plymouth Avenue N. and Knox Avenue N. The girl suffered minor injuries to her foot, but will not require surgery. READ MORE

To combat the rising violence in north Minneapolis, Minneapolis police are increasing patrols in the 4th Precinct and asking officers to engage more with the residents that live in the area.
