MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Athletes often volunteer for charities and to lend their names to certain causes, but in many situations, it is a one-time deal. But for the Division III national champions University of St. Thomas men’s basketball team, their volunteerism is more of a commitment.
Some of the players from the Tommies national championship basketball team have been tutoring at Prodeo Academy in Minneapolis for three years now. One of their students they have helped, eight-year-old Rayuon Gary, has also helped them too.
The team credits the young boy with bringing them good luck this season, all the way to their championship moment.
