Allianz Field dazzles MNUFC fans during open house
ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - Minnesota soccer fans are getting their first look at their favorite teams’ new, state-of-the-art stadium in St. Paul.
Minnesota United opened the doors to Allianz Field Friday for a special day of festivities.
The club debuted its Brew Hall and team store inside the north end of the stadium just off I-94 at Snelling Avenue. The two areas will actually be open year-round and not just on game days.
The bar features food, nearly 100 beer taps and lots of televisions to follow soccer matches around the globe.
Fans told FOX 9 they were blown away by what they saw during the open house.
“Oh my gosh, amazing,” said Lisa Warrior. “First, it’s awesome. Everything is Loons. It’s not the University of Minnesota. It’s gorgeous. By far, exceeds expectations. The pictures are nice, but seeing it in person, it blows you away.”
“You just walk in the gates and you know this is Minnesota United’s stadium,” said Griffin Desmarais, another Loons fan. “After a few years at TCF Bank Stadium, you felt like renting space. This is definitely a place to call home for the United.”
The team christens the new stadium with its first game on April 13.
