BELTRAMI COUNTY, Minn. (KMSP) - A group of anglers who decided to try their luck on the thin ice of a lake in northern Minnesota had to be rescued earlier this week.
Conservation officers with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources responded to a call of fishermen who were stranded on the ice on Upper Red Lake. Emergency responders located the anglers and brought them safely back to shore. An airboat had to be used to recover heir fish house and other gear.
The DNR is reminding everyone that ice is never 100 percent safe. Anglers are advised to always have a life jacket or flotation device with them while out on Minnesota's lakes.
