A drone helped save a lost hunter and his dog in Anoka County.

On Saturday, a 65-year-old hunter and his dog were hunting in the Carlos Avery State Wildlife Management area in the northeastern corner of Anoka County.

The sheriff’s office says the two wandered into a swampy area and the wet ground was trapping the hunter’s feet to the point of exhaustion.

The hunter was able to call 911 from his cell phone and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office sent up one of its drones. After several flights in the area the hunter and his dog were located and eventually brought to safety.
