Minneapolis police are searching for three suspects in at least the fifth robbery near the University of Minnesota since the start of spring semester.

At about 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, a man reported he was robbed at gunpoint by 3 men near 8th Street S.E. and 12th Avenue S.E. The three suspects fled east from the intersection with his wallet.

The four earlier robberies all involved students who said they were robbed at gunpoint, though it’s unclear if Sunday’s incident did.

The most recent robberies were:

-Jan. 19 at 6th Street and 11th Avenue S.E.
-Jan. 20 at 8th Street and 14th Avenue S.E.
-Jan. 21 at 930 University Avenue S.E.
-Jan. 23 at 5th Street and 9th Avenue S.E.

Last week, following three armed robberies in two days, U Vice President Pamela Wheelock announced they’ll be using a new “Neighborhood Safety Notice” communications system to ensure students are aware of recent crimes. Wheelock emphasized social media, like the University of Minnesota Police Department Facebook page, as a vehicle of communication between students and police.
