St. Paul police confirmed Friday an arrest has been made in a double homicide that left two men dead Thursday morning.

Police identified the person arrested as Jamaine Jamie Williams, 24, of St. Paul, but have not released any more information.

Police processed two separate crime scenes after discovering two men dead in a home and one critically injured on a sidewalk nearby a few blocks southwest of the Xcel Energy Center around 12:30 a.m. Police spokesman Steve Linders said it's too soon to determine if the shootings were connected.

While responding to a report of shots fired at 12:30 a.m., police found a man with gunshot wounds on the sidewalk near 7th St. W. and Smith Ave. He is listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

Officers later found two “gravely injured” men in an upstairs apartment in the 200 block of Forbes Ave., and they were pronounced dead on-scene.

The St. Paul Police Department Homicide Unit will be working with the Ramsey County medical examiner to identify the deceased and determine exact causes of death.

Anyone with information about these two cases is asked to call the homicide unit at 651-266-5650.
