Witnesses said the crash happened just before 2 p.m. at the restaurant near the split of Highway 7 and Minnetonka Boulevard. The red car backed through the 4 front doors at Yum and cruised through the crowded restaurant, sending customers running.
“When I got here, there were people with glass on their legs and medical people were here and they brought one woman into the salon because it had gone right by her,” said witness Jayla Schultz.
The car came to a stop when it slammed against the back wall that is shared with the salon next door.
“I was in the beauty shop and we heard a thud against the wall, and everyone was running out,” witness Nancy Cane said. “My family had just been in there and they said a lady had backed through the doors and went clear to the next wall.”
Two people were taken to the hospital for observation, but no one was seriously hurt. There’s no word from police on what caused the driver go in reverse.
Yum will reopen Thursday morning.
