Chalkfest kicks off Saturday in Maple Grove, Minnesota

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (KMSP) - Chalkfest returns to Arbor Lakes on Saturday and Sunday, featuring incredible creations by some of the world's top sidewalk chalk artists.

Artist in residence Shawn McCann stopped by Fox 9 to talk about the festival running June 9-10.

"As a young kid I definitely played with chalk on the sidewalk and never thought it was something that would turn into a career. But, I fell into it by accident 15 years ago and I get to travel the world making a mess on the sidewalks and creating some beautiful pieces for people," McCann said.

This is Chalkfest's third year running, featuring 55 artists from around the world. There will also be areas where the public can join in on the art.

Presented by Minneapolis Northwest Tourism, the festival is free and offers entertainment, food and more.
