A Facebook post announced on Tuesday that Chanhassan Brewing Company will permanently close on Feb. 1. 

The brewery opened back in April 2021. 

What they're saying:

The brewery owners expressed their gratitude for the "support and loyalty" from the community and invited the public to grab a beer and say goodbye before they close their doors. 

The owners also said "We'll cherish the memories and all the wonderful moments we've shared together."

Once a fruitful industry, Minnesota’s microbrewery business have seen a sharp decline in recent years. FOX 9’s Corin Hoggard explains.

Minnesota is one of the leaders in craft beer and some competitors have faded away in the last couple of years, while others are reaching into the THC market to boost their bottom line.

Barley production fell 56% in Minnesota in 2024, signaling a possible beer bust.

Urban craft breweries saw a sharp, 15.6% decline in Minnesota last year. Suburban breweries lost a little, and rural ones were up 9%.

Beer production was down 5.1% in 2023, hitting hardest at big companies like Anheuser-Busch and Coors. Craft breweries were down a little, but nearly steady.
