Charges: Man killed Coon Rapids woman who had restraining order against him
Lucas Jablonski, 25, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota is charged with second degree murder for killing a Coon Rapids woman who had a restraining order against him.
COON RAPIDS, Minn. (KMSP) - A 25-year-old man is being charged with murder for killing a woman, who had a restraining order against him, at her Coon Rapids, Minnesota apartment in August.
On Aug. 18, Coon Rapids police found Lucas Jablonski severely injured and lying on the sidewalk in front of an apartment complex on the 9000 block of University Avenue. A trail of blood led police from Jablonski to an apartment on the first floor of the complex, where they found the body of Rebecca Drewlo, 34, inside the bedroom closet, the charges said.
The Anoka County Medical Examiner determined Drewlo had been stabbed multiple times, including several times after she was already dead. The metal tip of a knife was found imbedded in her skull near her left eye. Police located a knife underneath her body, and a second knife underneath Jablonski.
Surveillance video shows Drewlo and Jablonski together outside the apartment entrance shortly after midnight on Aug. 18. Drewlo pauses to kiss Jablonski before walking inside the apartment complex alone.
A few minutes later, Jablonski is seen entering the apartment complex and walking towards Drewlo’s apartment. Approximately 90 minutes later, he is seen leaving her apartment holding a knife. From the video, he does not appear to have any visible injuries that match the ones he was found with on the sidewalk.
In an interview, Jablonski admitted he had been staying with Drewlo at her apartment in the weeks preceding her murder, despite a restraining order from 2014 that barred him from having any contact with her until September 2016.
Jablonski told police he has no memory of how his injuries occurred, but said he believed his injuries were self-inflicted.
Jablonski was charged in September with violating the restraining order for being found at Drewlo’s apartment building on the night she died. He is now also charged with two counts of second degree murder.
