Charges: Wright County bailiff drove to work drunk

A Wright County bailiff is being charged with driving while impaired after one of his coworkers noticed he appeared drunk at work Wednesday morning.

Craig John Canton, 56, drove from his home in Champlin, Minn. to work at the Wright County Government Center in Buffalo that morning. When he arrived at work, his boss, a Wright County sergeant, noticed he was slurring his speech and did not seem to be his normal self.

The sergeant gave Canton a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20.

Craig John Canton, 56, told police he had driven to work that morning but had not had anything to drink since 8 p.m. the night before.

Canton was eventually arrested for a DWI and was transported to the Wright County Jail. He is being charged with two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Canton was also convicted for driving while impaired in 2011.
