(FOX 9) - From plow drivers to hardware store workers, preparations are already underway for the next round of snow expected this weekend.
Crews are working around the clock to get ready and taking last minute calls from frantic residents trying to get the snow out of their driveways and sidewalks before another round of winter weather moves through.
“I come out and get those cleaned up at the last minute before the big snow storm comes in and buries them in again,” said Robert Mathews.
Mathews owns his own snow plowing and landscape company. He says last week he removed snow from 77 different homes and commercial spaces and the work isn’t slowing down.
Right now, the challenge is where to put all the snow. Snow drifts are already huge and causing problems for motorists.
City crews across the metro and MnDOT spent the day widening the streets to create more room for plows Saturday and getting the gear in line.
Winter supplies are still flying off the shelves at hardware stores.
At the Pelicci Ace Hardware in Eagan, they have roof melt on a waiting list and are down to three roof rakes before more come in Friday.
Pelicci has people still looking for shovels and snow blowers instead of Adirondack chairs and fertilizer.
IN THE AIR
Several airlines are already taking steps of their own ahead of this weekend.
Sun Country Airlines is warning of delays and letting passengers rebook flights that were planned to and from MSP Airport for Saturday and Sunday.
Delta also issued travel waivers for 26 destinations across the Upper Midwest.
