MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KMSP) - We're just a few days ahead of midterms and candidates are giving it their all this weekend.
After canvassing and knocking on doors all day, local Democrats hosted a Get out the Vote event Saturday at First Avenue.
With just a few more days left until Election Day, Saturday night was all about music and politics. Candidates and artists were trying to stir those young voters to the polls Tuesday.
A little bit of music, some drinks and politics all mixed into a Saturday night in downtown Minneapolis.
Several Democratic campaigns joined together to host the event to try and get the younger generation pumped up about Tuesday’s big election.
"I'm going to stand up and I hope that you do too and say enough of the politics of hate and division because up and down the ballot that is all they're selling,” said Lt. Gov. candidate Peggy Flanagan.
"The thing about being a progressive is that you are constantly pushing somebody every single day towards a more productive, a more equitable, just society,” 5th District candidate Ilhan Omar added.
Attorney General candidate Keith Ellison was also in attendance, saying, "We have a lot of volunteers who are showing who are millennials and a lot of activity on campus so I've been very encouraged and our volunteer base is mostly young people."
Performances from Minneapolis-based bands Solid Gold, Dem Atlas and Yam Haus got the crowd going all while trying to energize the democratic base.
"I'm not saying there hasn't been a big push before but I haven't seen anything like this in a while and I think it's one of the most crucial elections I'll see in my lifetime,” said Alyesha Wise.
The candidates at tonight's concert told Fox 9 they're planning on getting up early Sunday morning and hitting the pavement again all day. They won't stop until polls close Tuesday.
Earlier Saturday, Ellison held his final press conference before the election.
Ellison is facing Doug Wardlow in the race Tuesday. He was joined there by Omar and Erin Maye Quade.
Ellison said he plans to work with the community to get our ideas to move Minnesota forward.
If you haven't registered for Tuesday’s election, you can do so Tuesday at your local polling location.
