ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - The Minnesota State Fair unveiled its plans for a new permanent attraction at the north end of the fairgrounds Thursday.
Changes are coming to the Great Minnesota Get-Together in the next few years. Fair organizers unveiled plans for a new permanent complex on the north end of the fairgrounds Thursday.
The permanent complex will highlight the future of food and agriculture. It will include space for traveling exhibits, an outdoor amphitheater and a large plaza with agriculture education and entertainment features.
"The convergence of humanity and nature are the design motivation for the north end," project designer Andrew Tisue said in a statement. "Rooted between how people experience architecture and the agricultural process, this distinct neighborhood will be a canvas for immersing fair visitors in the stories of the future of agriculture and the arts."
The complex is slated for construction in 2017 or 2018. It will be the first new addition to the fair since the redeveloped West End opened in the former Heritage Square space in 2014.
