Fall colors starting to peak

Image 1 of 2

The recent cooler weather has really kicked those wonderful fall colors into high gear.  The reds, oranges, and yellows are beaming across much of central and northern Minnesota as well as similar areas in Wisconsin and will likely only get better this week before they start to tail off at the end of the month.  The general metro area has not seen those colors peak yet, but it’s typically just 5 to 8 days after our first frost that colors in the metro start to peak.  This means, with our first frost on Saturday, it’s likely this upcoming weekend when we can expect peak colors in and around the metro.  Your current fall color maps from the DNR are shown above.
