WASHINGTON - The FBI is seeking information regarding an assassination attempt at a rally for former President Donald Trump, who suffered a minor injury. His campaign said Trump is "fine" after being checked out by medical personnel.
The agency, which said it's taking the lead on the investigation, is asking anyone with information to call the tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
The agency also added that agents are on the ground in Butler, Pennsylvania, where the rally was being held Saturday evening.

Trump takes cover mid-rally after 'popping sounds'

Trump appeared to be the target of an assassination attempt as he spoke during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, two law enforcement officials said. The former president, his ear covered in blood from what he said was a gunshot, was quickly pulled away by Secret Service agents and his campaign said he was "fine."
Posting on his Truth Social media site about two and a half hours after the shooting, Trump said a bullet "pierced the upper part of my right ear."
"I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin," he said in the post. "Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening."

On Saturday, former President Donald Trump was shot during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Authorities say two people were critically injured and one person (other than the shooter) was killed. Authorities say they are working to identify the shooter using biometric information and DNA. The scene is still considered 'active' as authorities continue their investigation, and police say there are still "some concerns," that they cannot discuss until more investigation is completed. Authorities promised another press conference with updates, but did not confirm when that will take place. This is a developing situation.
A local prosecutor said the suspected gunman and at least one attendee are dead. The Secret Service said two spectators were critically injured.

The Secret Service said the suspected shooter fired from "an elevated position outside the rally venue." Trump is "safe and being evaluated," the agency said.
