Former Burnsville music teacher pleads guilty to criminal sexual conduct

A former music teacher at Burnsville High School pled guilty Monday to third degree criminal sexual conduct.

Erik Akervik, 30, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student and sending nude photos and sexually explicit messages to another student through Snapchat. He was a teacher at the high school at the time. 

Akervik pleaded guilty to one count of third degree criminal sexual conduct. He was charged with a second count of third degree criminal sexual conduct, but it was dismissed. He will be sentenced on June 14. 

Akervik is also charged with electronic solicitation of a child. He is set to go to trial for that charge on July 9.
