Gov. Tim Walz participates in first Turkey Hunt in Northfield, Minn.
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (FOX 9) - It was an early morning for Gov. Tim Walz Saturday as he headed to Northfield for his first Governor’s Turkey Hunt.
The event serves as a kickoff for turkey hunting season, which also drew elected officials like Rep. Angie Craig.
It was the first time Walz and other officials had hunted wild turkeys.
“We’re out here to try and talk about the importance of conservation and the importance of the hunt,” Walz said. “And part of that heritage of Minnesota is being out with family, friends, getting an opportunity to enjoy what Minnesota has to offer.”
While Walz did not get a turkey, he said he did learn about calling turkeys, saying it’s all about the experience of being out there and watching the world wake up in the morning.
