Gov. Walz joins National Guard troops, tours storm damage in southern Minnesota
AUSTIN, Minn. (FOX 9) - The Minnesota National Guard responded to help residents across Minnesota affected by the recent winter storm.
Gov. Tim Walz signed an emergency executive order this week, which activated 35 troops in Oslo, Minn. Saturday afternoon.
Nearly 150 additional soldiers are still working to support local authorities in Austin, Minn.
This is the fourth state of emergency for the Minnesota Army National Guard in 2019.
Walz took a tour of the damage today in southern Minnesota, joining the Minnesota National Guard flying over Austin to see the destruction first hand.
Thousands of Minnesotans were without power and more than 500 power poles are down across the region.
