Minnesota weather: Winds pick up Thursday night, blowing snow, impacting travel

After getting dumped on with snow Wednesday, cold temperatures and wind -- blowing that snow -- will be the main risks

As strong winds and snow create difficult travel conditions, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is closing I-90 in western Minnesota.

Interstate 90 west of Interstate 35 at Albert Lea will be closing again at 2 p.m. I-90 remains open to the east from Albert Lea to Wisconsin.

MnDOT says blowing snow and poor visibility are making travel difficult. It's unclear when the interstate highway will reopen.
