Longtime State Fair Police Chief Art Blakey dies
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is in mourning Saturday after learning of the passing of Lt. Art Blakey.
Blakey was a retired lieutenant of the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.
He was best known to the Minnesota masses as the long time Police Chief of the Minnesota State Fair each August.
“He has been a mentor to many in our agency and will be greatly missed by us,” said Ramsey County Sheriff Jack Serier in a tweet remembering the lieutenant.

“A sad day for Minnesota Peace Officers. Former Minnesota State Fair Police Chief Art Blakey passed away today. MPD sends our condolences to the Blakey family during this difficult time. Chief Blakey was a man of great character, served with distinction and a true legend in Minnesota policing. He will be missed."
