Macy's at Burnsville Center, Maplewood Mall closing
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (FOX 9) - Maplewood Mall and Burnsville Center will lose their Macy's stores by the end of the first quarter after the company announced nationwide closures of "underproductive" sites.

A news release detailed the exact number of stores and their locations that the company plans to close.
The announcement of a "Bold New Chapter" strategy was made back in February 2024. That plan includes the closing of about 150 "underproductive stores over a three-year period while investing in its 250 go-forward Macy's locations through fiscal 2026."
Company officials also shared a list of 66 stores nationwide that are set to close in the first quarter of 2025.

"Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go–forward stores, where customers are already responding positively to better product offerings and elevated service."
