Mankato West hockey team’s stick bag stolen at Duluth tournament

The Mankato West varsity hockey team was unable to play its Saturday game at a weekend tournament in Duluth after the team’s stick bag was stolen.

What we know: Scarlet Hockey says the team’s varsity stick bag was stolen off the bus overnight, and they didn’t have sticks to play their game against Anoka at the Heritage Holiday Classic in Duluth.

What we don’t know: Any additional circumstances of the theft, and suspects, or any arrests or recovery.

What they’re saying: "Can’t make it up. Stunning, really," the team posted to X.

What’s next: Mankato West will reschedule a game against Anoka later this season.

The Mankato West JV team won 3-2 with just 8 players available.
