MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The Minneapolis Fire Department honored crew who went above and beyond the call of duty at its annual awards ceremony Wednesday evening.
MFD presented meritorious awards to some deserving recipients, including the crew of Ladder 2, who received a Meritorious Unit Citation Medal for rescuing three men trapped by flash flooding near Minnehaha Falls earlier this year.
“We feel like it's really important that we actually do recognize each other and let each other know what each of us are doing,” Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Tyner said.
The department also awarded Meritorious Service Awards to two civilians: 11-year-old Luciana Showers, who helped get her siblings out of the house when a fire started in the kitchen and Keith Blasingame, who delivered a baby when a woman at his home.
