Minnesota trees used for locally-made whiskey barrels

(KMSP) - Nearly six years after Minnesota law changed to make it more affordable for distillers to open in the state, there are more than a dozen places making locally sourced spirits.

But it's not just the grains that are local; the barrels used to age the spirits now come from Minnesota, too.

It takes nearly half a decade to make an entirely Minnesota-made whiskey, starting with the hugely demanded trees that may be found right in your backyard.
