MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Overnight snow may impact drivers on Wednesday as compacted snow and ice are covering some roads in the Twin Cities metro and across Minnesota.

A cold front arrived late Tuesday night and brought light snow as temperatures started to plummet. Some areas saw anywhere from a dusting to around an inch of accumulation.
The snow is creating some slick road conditions for Wednesday's commute. Side roads are covered in ice and snow, while some highways have light ice on the surface. Road conditions could deteriorate as temperatures continue to fall on Wednesday, with highs ranging from the single digits to below zero, along with subzero wind chills.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation's website, as of 6:15 a.m., road surfaces across the Twin Cities have light slush, ice and compacted snow. Areas in northern and southwestern Minnesota have partially snow-covered roads.
