Monday snow makes for tricky commute Tuesday across Twin Cities metro

Monday's snow made for a tricky commute Tuesday across the Twin Cities metro.

For everyone caught off-guard or complaining of road conditions Tuesday morning, MnDOT shared a message: "Yes, roads were tough this morning. Yes, crews were out working all night. It's still winter, folks. Slow down, increase your following distance, and give yourself extra travel time. We want everyone to get to their destination safely."

The department shared that message on Twitter with a timelapse animation of plow activity.

Across there area, 23 schools districts were delayed due to the weather and road conditions.

However, after the snow comes the cold. Temperatures dipped into the teens in the Twin Cities Tuesday morning and will stay there for the rest of the day. Clouds in the morning and a stray flurry will give way to a clearing trend throughout the day. Subzero temperatures are expected Tuesday night.
