Teacher put on leave for going to student's home, demanding homework

PERRYSBURG, Ohio - An Ohio teacher has been placed on administrative leave after a family claimed the teacher showed up at their home unannounced to retrieve a missing homework assignment from the student.
Perrysburg Schools officials said the teacher worked at Hull Prairie Intermediate School (HPI) and will remain on leave pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.

School officials said, according to the report, the teacher showed up at the student's home asking for the missing homework assignment.
During the interaction, a parent arrived home and confronted the teacher. The parent later e-mailed the school administration.
Officials said the teacher was put on leave the next school day and a police investigation was opened.

"While we are limited in what we can share due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the ongoing police investigation, please be assured that we take any concerns regarding student safety with the utmost seriousness," the school said in an online statement. "The well-being of our students remains our highest priority, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities."
"We are grateful to the family who reported this concern immediately, allowing us to act quickly."
