Police chase on Hwy. 36 ends in Lake Elmo, 1 in custody

LAKE ELMO, Minn. (KMSP) - One person is in custody after a van led Minnesota law enforcement on a chase from St. Paul to Lake Elmo early Wednesday morning. 

According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers attempted to stop a van with no license plates. The van fled onto northbound Interstate 35E and then onto eastbound Highway 36. 

Minnesota State Patrol troopers used a PIT maneuver to stop the van in Lake Elmo. The driver was taken into custody and the incident was over by 7:40 a.m. 

Neither the officers nor the driver were injured.
