Police in Anoka County are investigating after a shooting suspect led them on a chase. The initial call came in at 12:22 p.m. of a man shot in Bethel, Minnesota. Once on scene, police saw the suspect’s vehicle leaving. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An employee at Cooper’s Corner in East Bethel confirms a shooting happened at the gas station.

The shooting suspect then led police on a chase and it ended near Highway 10 and 7th Avenue. The suspect was weaving in and out of traffic driving at over 100 mph. Minnesota Department of Transportation cameras showed the suspect getting out of his vehicle, jumping a nearby fence and running.

Officers shot the suspect, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. It is unclear if the suspect exchanged gunfire with police. The suspect has been transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says the suspect was conscious and talking before he was transported to the hospital.

“At this point, I can tell you, the suspect survived. [He was] Conscious, talking. Not cooperating, but talking. He is awake & alert.” Commander Paul Sommer said.

Police say it looked like the suspect had some type of object in his hand, but did not find a gun in the immediate area.
