SAVAGE, Minn. (FOX 9) - Amid the subzero temperatures, Xcel Energy crews are responding to reports of power outages in the Twin Cities metro.
According to the outage map, as of 6:39 a.m. there were 22 outage orders in the metro, which is affecting 164 customers.
One outage impacted the Savage area was first reported around 5:40 p.m. Officials say an equipment failure caused the outage. Xcel Energy brought on 30 extra employees to help speed up the restoration process.
"We know it’s extremely cold tonight and sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as our crews work to get the lights back on," said Matt Lindstrom, an Xcel Energy spokesman.
