President Jimmy Carter's national funeral: Full video

Former President Jimmy Carter will be remembered at a national funeral in Washington, D.C. on Thursday morning.

Carter's funeral: What to expect

What we know:

After lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda since Tuesday, Carter's remains will depart the U.S. Capitol around 8 a.m. CT. The motorcade will travel to Washington National Cathedral for an arrival ceremony around 8:30 a.m. CT, followed by the National Funeral Service at 9 a.m. CT.

Upon conclusion of the service, Carter's remains and his family will travel by motorcade at 10:15 a.m. CT to Joint Base Andrews, where they board Special Air Mission 39 at 10:45 a.m. CT. 

Special Air Mission 39 arrives at Lawson Army Airfield on Fort Moore, Georgia, at around 1 p.m. CT, where Carter’s remains will be transferred with ceremony to the hearse. Carter's remains and his family then travel by motorcade to Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, arriving at around 2:30 p.m. CT, followed by a private funeral service at around 2:45 p.m. CT.

After the funeral service, the late president and his family will travel by motorcade at 3:45 p.m. CT to the Carter residence for a private interment at around 4:20 p.m. CT
