ROSEMOUNT, Minn. (KMSP) - The Rosemount Police Department is going pink.
The law enforcement agency is the latest to join the Pink Project, a nationwide charity campaign to raise awareness for cancer. Officials believe the Rosemount Police Department is the first Minnesota department to join in.
For the month of October, uniformed officers will wear a pink version of their department patch. The employees all bought their own patches and no city money was used. The marked squad cars will also sport Pink Patch Project license plates, which were funded and donated by the owners of Rosemount Carbone's.
The Rosemount Police Department will be accepting donations for cancer research for the American Cancer Society throughout October. People can donate at the police department during normal business hours.
In October, the public can also buy their own collectible pink patches for $10 and pink cancer awareness bracelets for $2. Proceeds will also go to the American Cancer Society.
