Sunday’s snowstorm has led many school district leaders to call off classes for Monday.

Now, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is also affected, too.

There have been about two dozen delays and, so far, at least two dozen flights have been canceled from MSP Airport Sunday.

While a lot of people were still able to make their flights out of MSP tonight, depending on how much snow is on the tarmac, that may not be the case tomorrow morning.

As one man learned Sunday evening, it won’t matter if you show up early.

“They actually canceled the flight to Grand Forks,” said Mark Oehlke. “Kind of disappointing. I was actually heading back for a funeral for a good college friend of mine tomorrow, so probably won’t make that funeral now.”

Already, several cities have declared snow emergencies in and around the metro including Red Wing, Brooklyn Center, Crystal, Bloomington and Montevideo.

The first district to cancel classes was Cannon Falls. Superintendent Beth Giese spoke to us by phone to explain the decision.

“This is just the beginning,” said Giese. “Wednesday and Thursday is just going to be brutal. We can’t have kids, if a bus breaks down and they stand there for 15 minutes, I mean, they could have permanent frost bite. I can’t have that on my shoulders.”

Classes at Minneapolsi Public Schools, St. Paul Public Schools and Mankato Public Schools are also canceled tomorrow. For the latest on school closings, which are possible in the upcoming week, stay tuned to FOX9.com's school closings page

Experts are urging motorists to take precautions before venturing out into the cold, snowy weather this week.

Many cities around the Twin Cities are also issuing winter parking advisories Sunday night into Monday morning. Among them are Crystal, Golden Valley, Brooklyn Park, West St. Paul, Robbinsdale, Montevideo, Bloomington and Brooklyn Center.
