Minneapolis roving fireworks fights on July 4 were 'like a war zone,' resident says

Between 9 p.m. on July 4 and 4 a.m. on July 5, the City of Minneapolis saw more than 1,300 911 calls come -- which is typically what they see in a 24-hour span. The day after, streets were littered with spent fireworks and bullet casings.

Minneapolis Park Police say seven people were hospitalized, several with critical injuries, after a shooting at Boom Island Park late Monday night.

A spokesperson for the Minneapolis Park Police says they responded to a shooting around 11:30 p.m. There was no formal Fourth of July event at the park, but people had gathered on their own to celebrate the holiday.

Many of the victims arrived at the hospital on their own. The Park Board says the victims are; two 17-year-old boys who were treated and released, a 17-year-old girl who was admitted to the hospital, two 18-year-old males in serious condition, and an 18-year-old woman in serious condition, and a 22-year-old man who was admitted for treatment.
