ShopHQ layoffs

What we know: According to a WARN notice filed with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, IV Media plans to permanently lay off 122 employees from its facilities in Eden Prairie.

The layoffs will be effective on Feb. 24, 2025 and affect a wide range of workers, from on-air hosts to production workers, tech engineers, and product designers.

In the notice to the state, IV Media blames "changes in the direction of our business" for the layoffs.

The backstory: IV Media owns and operates home shopping channel ShopHQ, based in Eden Prairie, which it purchased from iMedia Brands in August 2023 as iMedia Brands faced bankruptcy. IV Media itself is a subsidiary of Innovation Ventures which makes 5-hour Energy drinks.

Before the bankruptcy and asset sale, iMedia Brands employed more than 900 workers in the United States.
